Viking Gold 2005 Nagano Special
The Gold 2005 long track boots have a calf’s leather lining instead of split croupon. The kangaroo leather shoes have a thermoplastic foam padding; one pair is about 120 gram lighter than one pair of the Gold 2000 boots.
Kangaroo LeatherExtra high quality light weight kangaroo leather. Kangaroo leather retains the shape of the skate. There is little stretch in the leather, so that after tightening the laces it takes the shape of the foot making better contact with the ice. The leather has been impregnated, making it water repellent and stain resistant
Calf Lining
For the top segment long track boots Viking use glossy calf leather as lining. Calf leather is a light grade leather and retains its suppleness when it is used. With the special quality that in combination with kangaroo leather it easily adapts itself to the shape of the thermoplastic parts in the shoe cup, making better contact with the ice. This makes it particularly suitable to be used as lining for our best models.
Armid Fabric (Kevlar)
Aramid fabric is produced by weaving endless aramid fibres. The fibres are characterized by a high impact resistance (tough), high impact strength, high shear strength and a very high tensile strength.
Thermoplastic Sole
The long track boots contains high thermoplastic material which, after warming up, is shaped accordigly to the foot. The thermoplastic resin retains its plastic properties and becomes soft and can be shaped after renewed heating. The easily shaped sole provides a perfect fit and additional comfort.
Cup Shoe
In recent years, long track boots and skeeler boots are being made on the basic of a so called cub. The sole and counter (heel reinforcing element) has become an integral part at the cup. In contrast to the traditional long track boots, in which the contrefort is glued to the sole. The cup determines to a high degree the fit of the shoe and consists of several layers of fibre reinforced plastic, which are hardened under pressure and increased temperature to form a whole. The way in which the fibre reinforced plastics are applied, with a thermosetting or thermoplastic resin, can give certain properties to the cup. Properties that make the boots stiffer, more flexible or shapeable in certain areas. The cups, which are unique and which are made in the Netherlands, are still owned and produced by Viking. The production method has been perfected through the years. For the different cups, three sorts of thermosetting fibre reinforced plastics (Glass-, Carbon-, Aramid fabric) are used and one sort of thermoplastic material in different thicknesses.
Sole With Torsion
Sole with Viking Torsion Technology (Vt-tec). Vt-tec provides feedback from the material. This promotes the pleasure of skating and provides an additional control and maximum skating performance.
Last Shape Small
This is the narrowest last, in which both the heel and front foot part is narrow. The last shape provides good basic stability by securing the heel in the long track boots. The Marathon Allround, Gold, Gold 2000 and Gold 2005 models are made on this last.
